Multitudes of small and medium entrepreneurs across India are initiated into the world of e-commerce and even become lakhpatis and crorepatis thanks to the Meesho app. That’s the power of technology 💪

Tech that touches billions of lives positively is what inspires Divyesh Shah, our newest VP of Engineering🥳

Meesho is focused on serving e-commerce users from tier-II, III towns and beyond – a demographic that is significantly large but relatively untapped. This ambitious goal resonated with Divyesh and he’s very excited to play a key role in helping suppliers grow and succeed online.

Divyesh joins us after two stints at Google, where he led product engineering and infrastructure teams for 12+ years. Between those stints, he led several engineering teams during his 3 years at Uber and also helped scale the tech team at Uber Bangalore.

Here are some of the interesting projects Divyesh has led in his career so far:

From his experiences, it’s obvious that positively impacting the world is a key driver for Divyesh. For him, products should solve hard, real-world problems rather than focusing on just attracting eyeballs. At Meesho, Divyesh is looking forward to “serving a billion Indians and making a difference in their lives” by

  • Ensuring all suppliers on the platform are successful
  • Making every shopping experience a delightful one
  • Ensuring all parties involved in the process are profitable

In fact, his three objectives tie up with the three charters that he will be heading – Supply, Fulfillment & Experience, and Monetisation.

Outside of work, Divyesh loves to play cricket, volleyball and hang out with family and friends. He’s also an avid music lover, and is particularly fond of EDM. If you’re planning on attending Lollapalooza 2023 in Mumbai, you might actually run into Divyesh😛

Success is always determined by the right kind of habits – and Divyesh has three that he swears by. Firstly, he’s an early riser –  a practice that gives him a few hours in the morning where he can focus well without interruptions. Next, he begins his day by noting down three things he needs to get done that day. No matter what happens that day, this helps him stay on track. Third, he loves to read. “Reading, in a way, is living through other people's experiences, and learning through them,” says Divyesh, adding that he’s most interested in reading tech, leadership and business-related books.

For those of you who aspire to grow and be successful in your careers, Divyesh has some advice for you – “Find hard problems that truly matter and go after them relentlessly. Seek environments that support growth and constant learning, because that's when you're going to unlock your true potential. Focus on this learning and improvement process, and the rest will follow.”

Welcome aboard, Divyesh. Under your leadership, we hope to make further impact on the lives of millions of Bharat residents. Want to learn more about us and our impact? Head over to meesho.io.
